dry battery (sears diehard by yuada)

Sears sells their DieHard(TM), made for them by Yuasa. It comes
dry in a cardboard box along with a bottle of electrolyte and lengths
of clear hose. Once you fill the battery with the electrolyte and
install the caps, the battery is sealed and requires no further
maintanance. Total price including tax was less than $40.00.
My 1998 KLR-650 still has its original battery, which I expect to
weaken and die this winter. I will just leave the DieHard in the box
on until I need it. When the time comes to replace myoriginal, I
will fill up the electrolyte, top off the charge, and off I go.
I can not directly address your query about "best", but Yuasa is
a well-known name. Sears has a longer warranty on their Yuasa-made
DieHard than Yuasa gives on their own brand of battery. For me, the
combination of a first-rate manufacturer, ready availabily at my
local Sears store, nearly unlimited shelf life until I need it, and a
longer warranty than the manufacturer's combine to a reasonable
version of "best".
