OJ, the KLR is slated to be as dead as Nicole Simpson. There's always a chance that if enough good souls such as yourself make their voices heard that Kawasaki will find a way around the emission requirements and continue to produce the KLR! Even if Mother Kawi doesn't head our cries all is not lost. The KLR is just too ubiquitous a model to disappear from the landscape in the near future. There will still be plenty of accessories and support for our beloved _used_ bikes for years to come. Hiro A. Watanabe - let your voice be heard!

This floats around every year. They were also rumored to not be doing a Connie this year either and that has turned out to also be wrong. Who knows, maybe one of these years it might be true. Also, I just got back on list since taking a break at the end of June and was wondering if I was planning to ride trails through soon to be closed BLM land and circumstances forced me to run SJ oil, what would be the best kind of gun to carry? : > I read somewhere that Kawasaki will no longer make the VENERABLE KLR after > 2001............ sumthin' 'bout emisions too tuff or something....... does > anyone know about this? if its true then I must take action!! > > OJ > New Orleans Louisiana > 2001 > 6000+ miles > 2.5 months > Iron Butt contestant.... hopefully......... > _________________________________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com > > Share information about yourself, create your own public profile at > http://profiles.msn.com > > Visit the KLR650 archives at > http://www.listquest.com/lq/search.html?ln=klr650 > Support Dual Sport News... dsneditor@... > Let's keep this list SPAM free! > > Visit our site at http://www.egroups.com/group/DSN_klr650 > To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: > DSN_klr650-unsubscribe@egroups.com

It's a crisp, fall morning and Mark McCoy, apparently seeking to conserve valuable, and pricey, natural resources, stokes the fires of Dual-Sportdom:

As a taxpaying American, you are planning to ride any (established) trail you damn well please, anytime you choose. Of course you're running SJ oil. And deeply thankful to have it, too. I believe the Glock 40 mm is currently favored, except in bear country, where list wisdom now suggests you stand no chance of survival with anything less powerful than a .460 Weatherby Magnum. I was keeping track for you, Mark, because I knew you'd want to know. Chris Lawson

BMW has just created a 'new' model (F650GS) to target buyers that Kawasaki would be leaving!!! However, KHI knows the numbers better than we do...... Shit...were do you find ammo for that!? Isn't it a little heavy to be dragging out to the trails unless you're sure you'd need to shoot down an aircraft or take out a tank? Mark B2 A2

Wotta' dope! A man of my caliber should never have let that slip through. I meant to say .40 S&W. Recognizing this failure to feed correct information could portend future problems, I will now field strip my brain and give it a good cleaning. Chris Lawson

i had a similar bike to the f650gs, but then i boosted the low end power on my klr, and sold the 50lbs of bricks for $3000. Now it's more like a klr again, and less like a beemer (hahahahaha). seriously, who cares. if they stop making them, just buy a different bike. with a little wind protection, i could easily get by with a honda. heck, where most people ride their klrs (street and dirt roads) i could get by with a 750 nighthawk. then i wouldn't have to check my valves at all. mw

LOL....I think some folks would do better if they got a GoldWing and slapped semi-knobbies on it. Mark B2 A2
