commuter bike and tyres

Post by James Chan » Mon Oct 09, 2000 7:51 pm

Dear Larry, The 'wimpy' brakes are an easy fix, just swop the original brake lines for stainless steel braided ones,(you can get them from Fred) you'll be amazed at the difference... baby stoppies are now possible, believe it or not!!!- I believe some people actually go to the extent of changing rotors etc, but, I personally don't think it's necessary, the current ones don't fade (that badly) even when used hard like coming down mountain twisties,... in my experience. As for the vibrations, I'd say get used to it, and after awhile, you may not even notice it, and may even come to like the thump-thump of that single cylinder (some people even prefer this to the vibes coming from, say, a 4 cylinder 'smooth' sport bike) I believe that you meant this to go to the list, so I'm forwarding it there, hope this helps. Ride safe!!! JC
