Ted,
Relocating the battery's vent tube might help, but all(?) vent
tubes have two small slits at each end of the (supplied) clear
vent tube. This is done so that the battery can still vent,
even if the tube is pinched due to improper routing. These
slits are located about 1/4" from the end of the tubing.
