Has anyone noticed that the rear tire on their KLR gets pretty warm when in use? I noticed that mine gets warm to the touch, not hot mind you, but warmer than I would expect after a low speed run (< 55mph for 4-5 miles). I know that there is friction between the tube and the inside walls of the tires but this being my first bike I don't have a reference point as to normal operating temperatures. The front gets warm too, but not as much as the rear. BTW, I run my tires at 28psi. Thanks all, Brad A9 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! [...] A couple of reasons spring to mind: -more distortion in the rear tyre. At constant speed the tyre still has to push the bike against the wind etc. The front tyre is just there for the ride until you use the brake or corner hard. -Heated air from the engine. The front tyre gets loads of fresh air, the rear tends to sit in a bit of a dead spot partially fed by heated air from the motor. Mister_T

That is totally normal. It gives your tire the stickyness needed to stay in a corner also!!! Van A7

I remember the first time I rode my KLR in the rain with a new set of tires and after going about ten miles, I felt the tires and I was really excited to find out that even in the rain the tires get warm and sticky. -neil
