Steve: I lived in Mexico for about 8 years. While traveling with a 1 ton 4X4
Dodge Powerwagon, suzuki on a bumper rack, camper and trailer in 1972. Do you
get the idea that perhaps I overdo things a bit? Sure was glad I had the
Suzuki when the truck's clutch blew out on a remote road with nothing in site
but jungle, frogs, iguanas and parrots. Before I could use the Suzuki I had
to evacuate water that invaded places where only gas and oil were supposed to
be. The bike had fallen over on its sidestand the night before in a rainstorm
that overflowed the banks of the river I was camped near. I now know not to
camp near rivers during rainy season. The unmistakable sound of gunfire
punctuated by bursts from automatic weapons coming from somewhere in the
dense jungle was a bit unnerving. Federalis vs. Marijuana growers. A couple
of days before I was robbed by 4 banditos waving machetes down near
Zihuatenejo. The story is also waiting for another campfire.
