Here's a bit of obscure info should you just happen to have your transmission apart and feel the need for a lower first gear. The KLR 600 part #'s for a conversion such as I've just done are: Input Shaft w/1st gear input #13127-1107 1st Gear output #13129-1522 These are interchangable with the KLR 650 parts and give a 15/39 instead of 15/34 1st gear. The difference is quite noticable. Kurt Grife

Good stuff. At least Kawasaki fluked a bit of foresight here. I suppose you can now put a "KLR650WR" sticker on the bike to confuse people. Mister_T

Kurt, Will this work for late model (96 +) 650's with the upgraded clutch basket etc??? This is what I've been wanting. I could keep my 15T front sprocket (v/s 14T) and not bog or have to ride the clutch doing slow single-track. Riding to and from the trails at reasonable speed/rpm! What a concept! How much work is it to change these parts over? Thanks in advance, Jim (now if we only had a super-tall 5th gear...) Jackson II A13 "Gonzo" South Carolina

The only things I clean often are the windshield and the lights. Washing is limited to the very occasional very light spraying under the fenders and the bash plate to get off the mud. Am careful to stay away from bearing areas with the spray. Thanks. Bob Kaub
