My '93 R1100RS oilhead bent a front rim at less than 10 mph going over a steel plate in urban street. Didn't affect handling, rode another 200 miles at high speed without noticing. Scary to think of what could have happened. Low profile tires on malleable rims are a bad combo. But if the rims are too hard (brittle) that's bad too. Pete the Streak
