Yeah, I realized that about ten minutes after I posted! Apparently, modern sportbikes are back up to fixed calipers. You still get one more seal that can fail, but if you keep the fluid clean, that shouldn't be a problem. My hooligan racing friends say that the floating discs don't have much lateral play, and mainly allow radial expansion. However, if the discs did warp anyway, they were able to continue using them (with fixed calipers) if they loosened up the fasteners a bit. Took the pulsing out of the brake line. C -- Dr. J.
