finally did a valve check!!!wow! close call.

Post by Tumu Rock » Wed Sep 20, 2000 2:31 am

Well I finally got enough courage, time, and know-how to get in there and do dem valve checkers....Here's what I found: shim clearance new shim new clearance L. in: 255 .004 245 .008 R. in: 255 .005 250 .007 L. Ex: 260 .0015 240 .009 R. Ex: 255 .005 245 .008 WOW!! How about that left exhaust!! I've been thinking about checking the valves since about 3000 miles. I've got 5450 miles now and I'm glad I didn't wait another minute! It wasn't all that hard to do, either, with the manuals and the valve check article from the Dual-Sport News homepage. I highly recommend that anybody who hasn't done the check or had it done by a trusted mechanic - get to checkin'! I had assumed that when I bought my bike, the valve check would've been a part of the 5 day got-to-get-it-ready waiting period, but obviously not. (Bought it used with 1400 miles from a dealer). dat brooklyn bum _______________________________________________________ Say Bye to Slow Internet! http://www.home.com/xinbox/signup.html
