we rode the obdr

Hello, (wondering if this went thru...) Just finished, ride report webpage for our recent ride on the Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route (Tom Myers, XR400, and Zander Nosler, KTM 640 Adventure). See our OBDR ride on http://www.cycoactive.com/obdr (Photos, maps, day by day description) It was mostly gravel, some dirt, little pavement. The OOHVA website lists the ride as 700 miles. We found it to be 956 miles from CA to WA across eastern Oregon. We camped five nights. It was fantastic. We will re-live it all winter.... The OBDR was christened one year ago. It was created by the Oregon Parks Association, and publicized by the OOHVA (Oregon Off-Highway Vehicle Association, http://www.oohva.org). The OBDR uses mostly gravel roads, usually OK for a jeep but sometimes "adventurous". It's not challenging, terrainwise, by dirtbike standards, but load your dirtbike with 40 lbs of camping gear and it gets a little harder. After 956 miles............??? You just have to try it. The OBDR goes from desert to high mountain forests. It's a perfect example of the thousands of miles of backcountry roads the public may lose access to if the "Roadless Area" threats are not monitored closely by the real forest users. Ride it while you can, and in the meantime, contribute something to protect our rights to recreate responsibly on OUR public land. If nothing else you'll see just a glimpse of the vastness of our country, and you'll KNOW land that many others (who want to close the land) will NEVER see (and probably don't care either). It's been a lot of work getting the webpage together (I hope it's finished) and that you enjoy it!
