Can we start the "Are So!" "Are Not!" "Are So!" now?
I hate this trash but I'm going to throw in because this person bothers
me...
I am reminded of a conversation I had with a person who I respected a great
deal. He made a blanket racial slur in my presence. I attempted to politely
inform him that just because in his perspective it might be so, it was not
necessarily so in the real world. He repeated himself. I lost respect for
him. This was shortly after I left the Marines. I worked for a time with an
African American (unsure of the PC term now, please don't start) Gunnery
Sergeant who I can honestly say I would follow into combat without a
question. Period. Now to say that all people of some race or profession can
be grouped into one tight little bundle and judged is not only ridiculous
but genuinely dangerous. We'll see how this bonehead feels when the time
comes for this police officer to save HIS hide in something important.
Perhaps some speeding cager will take his leg off... Hmmmmm, wish someone
had caught that guy and slowed him down. Who? Oh yeah, the cops!
Get real. Small minds = small views.
My opinion and I will proudly defend it off line. That's all I'll say here.

It's very interesting how you injected race into this and the fact that you
happen to be from one of, if not the most, racist States in the country;
South Carolina. Did you guys get rid of that offensive and hate filled flag
flying high a mighty from your Capitol yet? I know South Carolina very well
Jim. Don't talk to me about race or racism because most people in South
Carolina are just coming to terms with it now in the year 2000. Up here in
Philly we've gotten past that a long long time ago. It's nice though that
you are reafirming your intolerance to racism. Good for you. We just elected
our second Africa American Mayor. Any big cities in South Carolina have an
African American who holds high office? Some people in South Caroline bother
me Jim.

Brian the door must have hit you on the way out.
The "Flag" was moved to a better location, SC is about 50% Black/50% White and we have a lot of African- American citizens in high
offices (some are Conservatives). We also have many African-American law enforcement officers that would like to meet you.
Southerners respect all people with the exception of A-holes like you.
PS: some of my best friends are A-holes.

Brian,
That has to be one of the most singularly ignorant comments I've seen on
this list. How can you bracket an entire state as being ANY one thing?
You seem to be proving yourself a real asshole who, like many folks from the
Northeast, want to label anyone from the South or anyone from west of the
Mississippi River as rednecks and lesser citizens than yourself.
Anyway, I thought you "unsubbed for good". Good riddance!! AMF!! (And that
does not stand for American Machine Works.) Please go away.
Jim

I totally agree! Insinuating that an entire state full of people are
similar in any way is just plain ignorant. Of course I have always felt
that anyone that lives east of I-5 was a needledick and a pinhead but that's
something altogether different! I don't have a problem with cops, cops
don't have a problem with me. There was a time in the sixties when I hated
all manifestations of authority but after I put the bong down long enough to
realize I wasn't the center of the universe afterall I became truly
enlightened as to the ways of the world. I have lots of friends who work in
all forms of law enforcement as well as the military, from motorcycle cops
to Navy Seals and Recon Rangers. I know the the local FBI chief, the local
DEA chief, all the local sherrifs, CHP, and police officers as well as most
of the Commanding officers of the local bases. I know hundreds of fighter
and helicopter pilots, the head of the U.S. Coast Guards Drug Interdiction
Unit was in my shop last week. No I don't hang out at Winchell's or the
Police station, I fix their cars. They are all real standup people who have
chosen to spend their time and energy preventing chaos and anarchy. I thank
God we have those people and that they persevere in spite of the tiny self
centered morons they have to deal with on a day to day basis. Brian whoever
he was crossed the line and got caught, tuff shit, stand up and take it like
a man and stop sniveling. I whined at a cop once who was giving me a
ticket, he said "So what...you got caught....how many times did you break
the law and get away with it." Brian I hope you drag that trailer park
attitude into the court room with you so the judge can shove it up your ass.
What a moron.

i thought we weren't stereotyping...? i'm from the northeast and have
nothing against, anyone from anywhere, really. i am particularly fond, in
general, of southerners, and those from the west, who are usually alot more
relaxed and friendly than folks from around here.

Brian,
There was a time in my younger days where I would have invited you over for
a lesson in humility. These days I say a little prayer that you learn your
lesson(s) and that no one, including you, gets hurt in the process. I'm very
proud to live here in South Carolina although that is not where I'm from.
I'm sure Philly is nice and diverse and you are obviously showing how
open-minded every one there is. I'm glad to have known enough people from PA
to know for sure you are in the minority.
You seem like a person looking for a fight. Please look elsewhere. I'm on
the KLR list because I enjoy my bike and I learned almost immediately that
there were a good number of people subscribing who have my interests, values
and an intellectual level I can respect. You are not one of those people.
Have a good life.
