date on tires

Luke,
The D.O.T. markings on the sidewall will tell you the manufacture
date. Look for "DOT xxxx x nnn" on one of the sidewalls. The 'nnn'
refers to the week of the year (01 - 52) and the last digit of the
year. Thus 368 indicates that the tire was made in the 36th week
of the year in 1998.
At least that's how it used to be, my recent AM24 has 391 as the
last numbers in the D.O.T. number. Does this mean that my tire
was made in 1991 or 2001? Either I've got a pristine 9 year old
tire (unlikely) or my tire came from the future (twilight zone).
Hope this helps more than it confuses!
