klr tankbag?

Post by Leon Droby » Wed Aug 30, 2000 2:02 pm

I'm looking for a tankbag for a KLR. Between the Kawasaki bag and the Wolfman bag, is there a preference? Are there any other bags that I should be considering that I'm not? Thanks, Leon Droby

I have a Teknik expandable tank bag for my KLR. Big and roomy, large map holder and is magnetic, so you don't need to use the straps. I'm not sure about the other brands. This one may not fit as well as the Kawasaki bag, but it does a good job. John Canuk on a KLR

Leon, When I bought my Y2K, I included the saddle bags but balked at the Kawi Tank Bag because of it's size. I liked the idea of the tank bra being incorporated, but other than that I wasn't impressed. I'm using Wolfman Explorer and I love it. It fits the tank perfectly, has as much room as you'll ever need, and is about as durable as they come. Two major drawbacks: you have to buy the rain cover separately, and the price (wow!) IMO, it's worth ever dime. A lot of people have said that you have to remove it to gas up. Not so. I undo the top two clips and flip the bag back on my seat out of the way. I did find it kind of difficult routing the straps into position as per the instructions, and you do have to reove the seat (I pulled the tank as well. Gave me an excuse to do other maint.) but this is something you only have to do once, right? My advice, buy the Wolfman. You'll be happy with it I guarantee. Cheers, D. GBG eh14
