[dsn_klr650] brighter tail light - good idea?

Post by dan shaw » Mon Aug 28, 2000 11:08 am

hey dave, i bought the life bright leds and i think they are a pretty good idea. the cager may have thought you were braking when you might have been downshifting using engine braking... dan --- Dave Leslie wrote:

[dsn_klr650] brighter tail light - good idea?

The 50 watt brake light does lack contrast. It looks like the brake is on all the time. Several of us have noted that. I'm gonna try a resistor in the running light circuit next chance I get unless a better idea comes along. You may have the hot leads reversed. There are two filaments and they come on independent of each other. The brake light circuit should be the higher wattage filament (brighter) of the two. I have the Hot Shot - Sequenced flasher for rear turn signals when braking. It is available from: http://www.kriss.com If the person behind me can't see them they should not be driving. It is a bit expensive though and you need to check it's legality in the jurisdictions you will use it in. It is used on some police bikes. I know this one...some of these halogens must have their filaments reversed. I bought one from a bike shop, put it in outside the shop and checked it - it was backwards. Showed the owner, he grabbed another one, identical packaging - it was correct (ie brake light much brighter than running light). He was pissed that his $15 light was NFG, but what could he do...other than sell it to the next unsuspecting guy, which I'm sure he did. I don't shop there any more. BTW - My halogen melted a hole in my brake light holder, but that was in Mexico, running in the middle of the day, all day...now I can't run halogens anymore, since water and crap get in there and it blows straight away. I'm thinking an LED one would be the go, vibration-proof, never burns out...too much hassle for a weekend trail blaster, but just the thing for adventure touring... Rich JIM JAMES wrote:

Re: NKLR: dirt riding gloves? Thanks for all the glove feedback everyone, I think I'll try the MSR System 6 gloves. > Message: 9 >    Date: Tue, 29 Aug 2000 17:31:28 -0700 >    From: "Fred Hink" > Subject: Re: NKLR: dirt riding gloves? > > I have used MSR System 6 gloves for a long time now and they > are great.  They last a long time and protect your hands well too. > > Fred > >   ----- Original Message ----- >   From: Russell Scott >   To: 'KLR List' >   Sent: Tuesday, August 29, 2000 3:36 PM >   Subject: RE: [DSN_klr650] NKLR: dirt riding gloves? > > > >        >        My Groups | DSN_klr650 Main Page | Start a new group!  > > >   I have Thor and MSR.  The Thor fit better but the MSR are > more durable and last longer.  I recommend MSR. > >   Russel'r
