Tom, I removed mine for two reasons: one it freed up room to work and adjust components and two the stuff tended to make the bike more difficult to start. Apparently the cannisters can flood easily and accumulate petrol adding to the problem...I don't think there is any difference from a performance standpoint... Kurt
