I also beg to differ, Gas is 6.00lbs/gal, Jp4 is 6.55, JP5 is 6.82, and
Kerosine is 6.84, water is 8.35.

yup!
at 68 degrees, 14.7 psig, regular grade gasoline (Shell Oil brand of course) 6.0185 pounds per gallon.
EVERYTHING effects density and volume.

A gallon of gas is"too heavy" if you have to carry it a couple of miles in motoboots (uphill, through the mud).

Jeppesen states in my "Private Pilot Manual" that a gallon of Avgas weighs 6
pounds per gallon, a gallon of oil weighs 7.5 pounds per gallon, a gallon of
water weighs 8 pounds. The Bosch Automotive Handbook states that gasoline
has a density of 0.72..0.75, Benzene (C6H6) 0.88, and Diesel fuel a density
of 0.81...0.85, and Kerosene 0.76...0.86.
