Current standards for English weight and volume comes from the fact that
water does weigh 8 lbs. per gallon. 32 oz. = 1 quart, 4 quarts (128 oz.) = a
gallon, etc.
Therefore, 128 oz., and 1 gallon, also = 8 lbs.

I came from a pint of water is a pound and quartet too. ie 10lbs.

See other mail. The UK gallon used to be 1.2 x US gal. alas no more iit's
mostly liters.
Use to be interesting comparing aviation fuel prices, making sure which
gallon was being talked about.

Tosco Refinery in Martinez CA is now MBTE free, or will be very soon.They
supply to 76 Unocal.
