I
Cheers to all. I'm a BMW (K11LT) owner, live in Maryland, and do my share of
long distance riding. The BMW "K" bike has been excellent for things like
Saddle Sore 1000s and the USA Four Corners Tour. But....next year I want to
do Alaska to include the run to Prodhoe Bay. I'm thinking, I need something
a little more dual sport and started looking at BMWs F650. In the meantime,
I've had a number of folks recommend the KLR as an alternative. I have no
knowledge or experience with the KLR or any Kawasaki product, so I've come
here to this list to be "loaded up" with wisdom. Naturally, I'm interested
in things like reliability, "packability" comfort for the long haul, etc. I
would also be interested in hearing from anyone who has rode their KLR to
Prudhoe etc. I know this is a wide open topic, but if this list is anything
like the Internet BMW Riders List (and I suspect it is), I'll find someone
who has been there, done that, and has the tee shirt!
TIA,
Jess Booth

, you could probably walk a
tried> long distance in them if you really had to. Only thing I haven't
I think I could walk awhile in my Sidi's. I tried the full immersion thing...they only got wet when the water was above the top of the boots! The Sidi's stayed dry up 'til that point. If I had the velcor strap a little tighter, they may have stayed drier. Thing with water proof boots though, they don't let the water out either! John> is the full immersion thang - they are fine in heavy rain tho... >
