" ... certain segments of our sport seem to go out of their way to fit
negative stereotypes."
Despite what others in this group and other non-Harley groups I have
belonged to (VROC and Victory) say about Harleys, they are fine bikes, and I
have a 250,000 mile pin from the Motor Company to back me up. I have found
them to be reliable, useable and fun to ride, and some of them (Sportsters
and Buells) actually handle pretty well.
HOWEVER, a lot of the people who ride them are serious butt-heads. But
that part of the market is also covered by certain factions of Beemer riders,
sportbike squids and other weekend warriors.
The guys I like the best are the antique buffs. They BRAG about how many
times they break down, how hard their bikes are to start, and how expensive
and hard to get parts are.
Kinda like Bizzarro-bikers.

[dsn_klr650] nklr mean bikers
People who would inflict the damage you describe are not part of our sport,
they are the same type that will bully women, children, small animals etc.
Bullies are by definition cowards. Why do they ride harleys? Probably to help
them overcome the sense of inadequacy they obviously carry. As I said I have
never considered harley riders part of our sport anyway. Hell, they don't
even wave!
