I don't know if you have the axle nut loose, but I noticed a
bothersome tick while spinning my rear wheel also, as I
was reinstalling the wheel with new tire. After torqueing
the axle nut to spec, the tick was gone.

Dear List,
I have a chain problem and I am going riding Sunday
AM. It seemed a little loose on side stand with
pre-load set at 4. I jacked up the bike and turned
the nuts a little and I moved the 'tick' about 1/3 of
the way between the marks. I moved both sides the
same. I lowered the bike and it seemed a little
tighter
BUT now when I spin the tire I hear a ticking. I
first thought that the bike's chain was too tight but
it doesn't seem to be. Then I thought that some how
the wheel is out of alignment and the chain is
'ticking' on the sprocket. It is just a little sound
and I didn't seem to notice it before. But I am
really nervous that I have to ride a lot Sunday and
about 2 hours are on the highway at 70mph. I don't
want any trouble.
Any help would be great.
