chain help!!,going riding sunday!

Post by Darrel & Deanna » Mon Aug 21, 2000 12:33 pm

I don't know if you have the axle nut loose, but I noticed a bothersome tick while spinning my rear wheel also, as I was reinstalling the wheel with new tire. After torqueing the axle nut to spec, the tick was gone. Darrel A12 Date: Sat, 19 Aug 2000 From: kenneth scott Dear List, I have a chain problem and I am going riding Sunday AM. It seemed a little loose on side stand with pre-load set at 4. I jacked up the bike and turned the nuts a little and I moved the 'tick' about 1/3 of the way between the marks. I moved both sides the same. I lowered the bike and it seemed a little tighter BUT now when I spin the tire I hear a ticking. I first thought that the bike's chain was too tight but it doesn't seem to be. Then I thought that some how the wheel is out of alignment and the chain is 'ticking' on the sprocket. It is just a little sound and I didn't seem to notice it before. But I am really nervous that I have to ride a lot Sunday and about 2 hours are on the highway at 70mph. I don't want any trouble. Any help would be great. Ken A13 The Ticker
