[dsn_klr650] horses and motorcycles (nklr)
This may not work in all cases.
Biker Mike (maybe better with helmet left on)
It's also helpful with skittish horses to stop and remove your
helmet so the horse can recognize you as a human.

i do this all the time when i come upon folks on horses. just shut down, pull over, & wait for them to pass.>Once, I actually stopped and turned off the bike until the young rider >went by on a very nervous horse.
yep.>So far, I haven't scared any horses. >The riders/walkers always seem appreciative.
well, that's a different kettle of fish... but @ least we're *polite* about it.>I hope this little courtesy helps folks understand that not all bikers >are dolts.

I agree Gino, I had a few horses go by me last week while I was taking a break, and they were very nervous. I kept thinking for the rest of the day how awful it would be to meet them on a corner, if I was going fast, and scare the hell out of them or worse. As an animal lover i have no desire to scare, or hurt a horse out on the trail, so after they went by I decided to take it much slower the rest of the day. I figure we all have to share the recreation areas, and trail rides can be enjoyed just as much going at slower sppeds, enjoying the scenery, and taking it easy on the bikes. Have a good weekend, where ever it finds you Mick.> It's also helpful with skittish horses to stop and remove your > helmet so the horse can recognize you as a human. > > Gino
