It is not uncommon for me to encounter people riding or walking horses on
the dirt roads that I ride on a lot.
I just know that some horses can freak out when near a bike.
What I always do is slow down as fast as I can and try to "read" the
horse's body language to see if it's skittish.
Then I get into first gear and slowly and as quietly as I can get way over
to the opposite side of the road and pass the horse.
If I'm coming up behind the horse, I make every effort to make sure the
rider sees me coming. Try not to blow your horn.
Once, I actually stopped and turned off the bike until the young rider went
by on a very nervous horse.
So far, I haven't scared any horses.
The riders/walkers always seem appreciative.
I hope this little courtesy helps folks understand that not all bikers are
dolts.
Thanks.

It's also helpful with skittish horses to stop and remove your
helmet so the horse can recognize you as a human.

Amigos
today at work I scanned a couple of pictures and sent them home to my
computer, I would like to learn how to post them on a single posting
to the listgroup, using my computer. I'm not sure how; can anyone
give me any simple pointers?
TIA
