There is no crankshaft seal. The flywheel and pickup coil etc, all are immersed in the oil sump. The "grease" you're referring to is a mix of oil and steel powder from your gears under normal wear, assuming you have a fair amount of miles on your bike. This stuff will cling to magnetic/magnetized components. Mark B2 A2

darien liner

The Darien works just fine over a not-zipped-in jacket. Also, the three-season jackets have collars that form a cozy, fleece-lined tube when zipped-up all the way up and this solves the (pain in the neck) chafing problem. Thanks. Bob Kaub
