tips and tricks nklr

Post by k650dsn@aol.com » Fri Aug 11, 2000 2:06 pm

Just thought I'd share a couple of tips and tricks I used on my latest ride. These were all done to a W650, but are universal and can be done on any bike. FWIW. Ear plugs - Love 'em or hate 'em they are no doubt the best way to fight fatigue on the road (and give you a good night's sleep in a campground full of drunk Harley riders). Throttle lock - Invaluable for giving the wrist a rest. Gel Grips - Help to reduce hand fatigue and reduce vibration. Sheepskin seat cover - The W has a seat like a brick. I glued sleeping pad foam(the blue stuff) to the bottom of the sheep skin and was more comfortable than my riding buddies -one with a Corbin and the other with a Mustang seat. Platypus Hoser Bag - Made in 1 and 2 liter sizes and a 100oz all complete with extra long hose and mouth piece just like a Camelbak without the expensive back pack. I got the 2 liter model, filled it and stuck it in the tank bag, then clipped the mouth piece to my jacket. I could drink on the run and didn't have a heavy, hot back pack on my back. Piaa Super Blue headlamp. Bright and very noticeable even in daylight hours (according to my riding buddies) Tourmaster Cortech pants - with shorts underneath, the best way to travel in hot to cool weather. They come off easy enough, are cool when riding in 100 degree heat(with two way zippers), are water repellent in afternoon thunderstorms, and warm on cool mornings when all zipped up. More later... spark arrester cleaning?

No problem. You want a good, deep barking 'thump-thump-thump' sound, and you're gonna get it with the EAR ;) I'm already sick and tired of ol tweety again now that's back on my bike. Gotta be a middle of the road sounding pipe out there somewhere (hey Fred, any update on the Pro-Dura?). Karl PS - I packed in a local Bike Trader magazine so you can see how cheap we get our bikes up here! Now if we can only do something about our damned taxes.
> get dirty now). Fortunately I will be rid of tweety and the
headless bolt
> soon when I replace the stocker with an S-Trapp EAR (thanks Karl).
Tweety
> didn't bother me for a while but after 4 months with the bird, I
could take
> it no more.
