[dsn_klr650] klr 250, where's the power?

umm, it's a 250. that's a little engine. my wife's xt225, which is 15 lbs or so lighter (mfr's claimed weight) will only lift the front wheel under the most determined rider. i have to be way back on the seat and going up a steep hill with good traction. on the other hand, i've heard it's a pretty fun trailbike. wait until your girlfriend complains about the pickup before you go buying a bike that's 40-50 lbs heavier. -mark weaver

hmmm, doesn't sound very good. FWIW, my SO has an ancient xr-200 (1981 vintage) & it pulls the front wheel up in the first three gears. there is definitely summat wrong with a 250 that can't pop a throttle wheelie.

If you want to be happy for the rest of your life Never make a pretty bike your wife So from my personal point of view Get an ugly KLR to carry you Remember this from early days. they're all so much fun, it's hard to neglect any of them. y'know how a bike will sometimes whisper in your ear? my bikes shout loud enough to make me ears ring.

fugly has its virtues, kinda like that song with the line that goes something like "if you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, then marry yourself an ugly wife..." or summat. ;-) gears, ye wilde ryder -- wallace@... 99 zx-9r "blue bayou" 98 vtr-1000f "stormy" zwallace@... 86 cr-250 "dirt devil" 00 sv-650 "zipper" "& you were using your friends as a berm." -- RP 83 v65 magna "nasty" FoJ#002...AMA#456832...JHLO#002...COP#000...CCS#SW969...Support the RKBA Visit the KLR650 archives at http://www.listquest.com/lq/search.html?ln=klr650 Support Dual Sport News... dsneditor@...
