Sounds like a part of the smog device (charcoal canister). Do you have a California model? There would be an "L" in the designation (A15L). A lot of people think that the Charcoal canister hurts performance (but that is not true) and remove it. the only negative thing the canister does is add weight. The charcoal canister absorbs excess fuel vapor from the fuel tank when it gets hot and starts to expand. Also absorbs vapor from the carb when the engine is turned off. when the engine is running the vacuume from the motor sucks the vapor from the charcoal back into the carb and in too the engine. It actually helps prevent the smell of gasoline from the bike when it's parked. Like in your garage.
