While we are talking about sleazy, I'll be leaving for Sturgis this Saturday and have been trying to decide what gaudy accessories I should buy and graft onto my KLR. Any suggestions.

Today at the local cycle shop I saw a KLX 650 with a "Live to Ride,
Ride to Live" faux gold emblem (large) glued on to the Clutch
housing. Cool, huh?
You could try a bobbed fender with the license plate off to the side,
or maybe a fringed gas tank shroud....a place to put the cell phone
and the espresso machine, maybe?

This is easy:
Replace the whole exhaust with a piece of chromed pipe (no muffler).
Get rid of the air filter, this will help make it sound much nicer
Don't rejet after these two changes, it might improve the now degraded
reliability.
Replace the rear shock with a 1"X2" piece of bar stock, about the length of
the shock when fully compressed. This will dramatically increase the bikes
stability, and who needs a rear suspension anyway?
To help even more with stability, you will need Eldon Carl's fork extenders,
but get some that add a foot or two, not just a measly inch or so.
The stock handle bars have got to go. Get chrome ones. The grips should be
no lower than the top of your head. If you have trouble getting the front
brake line to reach, get rid of it.
Paint the frame metallic purple (or pink, your preference)
If you have time, remove that crankshaft balancer, it really does make the
engine vibrate less, we can't have that.
Put a couple of chrome faux lifter tubes on the side, it will look way cool.
Who needs a stinking front fender? Replace the rear with chrome. If you
are in a rush, try chrome spray paint on the stock one.
This might take some work, find a 1 to 1-1/2 gallon gas tank, but paint it
with flames and a skull. If you can't find another tank, fill the existing
one with lead shot, enough to displace all but a gallon or so, and then
paint the klr tank, not as cool but easier, and it helps add that extra
weight you really need. Gas tank size on the KLR is much over rated.
You got to have dangly's hanging from the handle bars, but use cheap plastic
ones for extra tackiness
Put the narrowest tire you can find on the front.
Replace the goofy looking stock seat with an oversized old fashioned bicycle
seat with springs.
Even if you put shot in the tank, you will have to find someplace else to
add quite a bit of dead weight. One thought would be large lead weights in
the air box, now that the filter is removed.
I'm certain we can come up with more very cool mods, to help you fit in with
the crowd. Attire will come in the next installment. The village people
look is quite the rage I hear.
Thanks for the fun Gino.

Sounds like fun, I will make an attempt to get on down there. Last
time I was down that way I was on a beemer, thinking how nice it
would be to have the KLR.
The twisties on 190 and 99M (runs through the mtns toward Kernville)
are pretty excellent and there are lots of great swimming holes (free
camping too) down that way. On 190 going up to Springville there are
some endless tight twisties, never any higher than second gear. This
is indeed a great area Russell'r has choze (I am learning how to
spell like yous guise).
Does the Peppermint Campground have runnin water?
