I dont think the majority of people here condone removing the screen, but if your one of those folks that cant leave well enough alone, and want to squeeze every bit of power outta your bike, then go for it. I assume youve already rejetted the carb, and put a free flowing exhaust on your bike? Check out this for carb screen removal. http://www.angelfire.com/mo/motormark/mikescarbmod.html Mark Wilson http://www.geocities.com/motormark64/ http://www.angelfire.com/mo/motormark/ KLR-650 A-13 "warthogg" XR250R "superfly" Stone Mountain, Ga ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^> Any thoughts or comments on removing the air filter screen between > the filter and the carb? Not me, I haven't had my car long enough. However, you might have at look at the rear suspension, too. The semi-trailing arms rely almost completely on their pivot bushes to keep the rear wheels pointing the right way. What happens when you put a side load on the ST arms? They deflect a bit. Which way do they deflect? The way that makes the arms steer the back of the car outward. Don't forget, the "moustache" bar, what the ST arms are attached to, is also rubber mounted and can deflect its own ways as well. The STA suspension is actually fairly crude, only one step up from swing axles (remember the handling of old VW Beetles?). Can you tell I'm not a big fan of STA suspension?
