What do you all use to clean your KLR? I use Castrol Super Clean
right now but I think it might be too strong. I've seen some listers
talk about Simple Green, is that stuff better?

I use "holeshot professional dirt bike cleaner" available at most
motorcycle shops. One part cleaning solution 5 parts water for mud
and bugs on the plastics and use the solution undiluted for cleaning
chain gook off the rear rim ....
p.s. I do realize I am not a professional and the KLR is not a dirt
bike

I don't wash my KLR very much, and I only give my 97 R1100RS a wash a
few times a year, when the bugs clog up the fairing so much that it
starts attracting yellowjackets, but I have found that the Suzuki
Cycle Wash works really well. It's a lot like S100 but seems to be
mo betta at getting stuff clean and giving it a real shine with very
little work. It costs money, though (there's a downside to
everything).

Be careful with what you spray on the fork boots

Hmm, something to think about. That has happened to mine as well,
after a few washings with Suzuki Cycle Wash, which seems to be about
the same stuff as S100.
I was checking out some Daystar gaiters where I ordered a new chain
and sprockets yesterday, and the Daystars seem to be made out of much
more pliable material...real rubber, not some cheap vinyl like the
Kaw version.
Right now I'm using duct tape, which gives my bike the custom look
and also seems to improve fork damping a lot (just kidding).

outside the quick lube shops. wonder who leaves them there during the night?
