Chuck, Here's my understanding of the model changes. 87' to 95' : identical other than colors. 96' to current : identical other than colors, but 96' on have improvments to clutch, counter-balance assembly and some changes to the cams. Other than that I'm not aware of any major change unless you look at a used Tengai or KLX. Steve Pye

Fan spin freely to the touch? It should do a 360 fairly easily. Motor shaft and blade move 'together'? Also, sometimes a fuse can be blown and still look good. Epoxy on a fan blade is a bandaid for me. Even if its been glued well, and the blades still true on the shaft.......I don't trust epoxy when the elements of motion, vibration, and significant temperature swings are present. For me, getting one of Fred's fans would be better than having mine fail in timbuktu, or compromising motor longevity. G'luck Slide
