Dear Red Faced in Windsor, No biggie.. don't be red faced. Remember who thought that the speedo worked off of a fluid (that was me), it turns out that there is a fluid in there but it's used to dampen the rotation rather than drive the needle. I'm wrong all the time. Hell.. According to my wife, I'm wrong even when I know I'm right. :) I learn a lot from being wrong, and when I'm right, it's just that much sweeter. Getting your new KLR will be the RIGHT thing to do. Oh and certainly don't shut up when you don't know. The best brainstorming comes from creativity and often times "off" ideas. Nuclear weapons weren't first built by people who KNEW how to build them. Edison didn't have a clue what filament would work for the light bulb, but we don't consider him a failure 200+ times over. ED!!! you're making me ramble...... There are over 500 people on the list that don't know the solution to my problem and they aren't saying anything, which is fine, I don't want 500 responses to read. But there are the few who might know or think they might have an idea... those are the folks that have offered their time and cared enough to try and help, you are one of those people and I appreciate that, thanks. LaterZ Dash Can't this clock go any faster... Hmm I wonder what would happen if....................... :)

Dash - since your already having electric problems (keeping your battery up) and the tach is electronic might the two be related. I had a battery on my Harley go flat while riding and the first indication I had was that my tach and speedo needles went to zero. I rode to the Harley shop thinking I had an instrument problem till I tried to refire the engine in the parking lot. Fix the battery problem first and the other problems may take care of themselves.
