Brian,
This is probably not much help but... I have a 650 ('96), a 250
('90),
and a Super Sherpa ('00) and none of them have ever exhibited the
exhaust symptom you describe. They all have factory stock exhaust. In
fact even the 2-strokes I have had never produced this amount of
smell. Sorry, I wish I could say I had a solution for you.
