Ralph,
I run AV34 radial in the rear and AM24 bias in the front. The radial tire is
more composed in high speed street cornering. It totally sucks off-road with
almost zero hard traction. On fire roads the radial Gripster is fine. I would
not use the radial on the front because riding in any kind of sand becomes a
handful with almost no control. As for mileage, I don't think my rear tire
will last 6000 miles of mostly street driving. Another drawback is they are
about $20 or $30 more expensive than bias ply.
