DJ, while in Moab, I highly recommend camping at the Canyonlands Campground.
plan on staying at least 5 days in order to see everything. Must sees include
Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. On your way into Canyonlands NP, stop
to visit Dead Horse Point State Park and on your way out of Canyonlands, just
before you take the exit out of the park, take a right and ride the Shafer
Trail back to Moab. It is spectacular. There are some great petroglifs on the
road back to town. Its a little out of the way, but when you leave Moab, take
highway 191 South to Blanding. On the way, If you like Indian rock art, visit
Picture Rock south of Moab. In Blanding there is the Edge of Cedars State
park which has one of the finest collections of Anasazi pottery in the US.
Take Highway 95 West and you can visit Natural Bridges National Monument,
then take Highway 24 West to Capitol Reek National Park. Highway 95 and 24
has some of the most amazing scenery you will see anywhere. I also camped at
Great Basin National Park in Nevada on the way home and Thoroughly enjoyed it
too.
