moose handgaurds

I have purchased and am ready to install the heavy duty moose
handgaurds on my A1. Has anybody else attempted this ? I notice the
rubber sleaves given to fit over the tightening bolt appear too large.
I almost gave myself a hernia trying to slide the rubber hoses onto
the bolt.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
