Another advantage to in-line filters is that you can see if any
gas is flowing. I carry a spare in the tank bag.

Hey Dan,
I ditto and double ditto what Fred said. Water, as you know, is more dense
than gasoline therefore small amounts will settle out to the lowest part of
the tank i.e. the intake level for the reserve setting.
Clean the tank, clean the carb, put on an inline filter (they are $1-$3.00).
