tolerance and torque
Hello Everybody!
Yesterday as I was preparing for changing the valve shims, I measured the tolerances between the cams and shims. Here's what I got (in mm):
IN(left) IN(right)
tolerance: 0.12 0.12
shim: 2.65 2.70
EX(left) EX(right)
tolerance: 0.22 0.60
shim: 2.55 2.60
As you can see, the right exhaust tolerance is way off! I was wondering how could that be? and what's causing it? If the new shim will be 3.00, will that fix it? or is it a valve or valve seat wear problem? I'm planning to skip the shim change at the next 10k service, because I'll be in Yucatan or Chiapas at that time, so I'd like to ask the Collective, how much can I loosen the tolerance without effecting to much the engine performance and valve-seat wear?
The other question I want to ask: What is the torque spec for the bolts that hold down the cam shaft caps? I couldn't find it anywhere.

Same as your using in your bike. Had one of those dudes from '76 till '93. Was a motard before the name came out. Had bored it to 521 cc with 10.5 piston, Norris TT2 cams, installed the SR intake valve, 36 round slide VM mikuni and laced in a 19" front wheel back in 79 think it was.
