nklr new biker girlfriend!

Post by Sanders, Eric » Wed Jul 19, 2000 3:50 pm

Greetings all, I am now dating a girl that rides! She works next door and we "rode to work" together today. Her brother lets her ride his 1978 Yamaha 500 Enduro. Do you know what type of motor earl should be used for this bike? It was rebuilt 1000 miles ago and is air cooled. She is looking to buy a dualsport for herself and wants a low-seat-height. She loves the KLR (I'm falling for her too) but it's too tall (I mentioned lowering links, etc.). I thought something like a KLR250 or Dr.350 or XR400 + Baha kit? Everyone has an opinion, so let's hear 'em! Thank you, Eric Colorado Springs A13L GOT THE GIRL

Eric seeks opinions on a bike for a woman he has met: If she really loves the KLR650, then lowering one is the way to go. Plus, she could get the standard Corbin saddle, with the dip near the tank, that would get her even closer to the ground. The KLR250 and DR350 you mentioned are good options, but, unless she's just commuting to work or playing mainly on dirt roads and trails, and because she's already riding a 500 single, she'll outgrow 'em in a moto-heartbeat. The KLR650, as you know, offers far greater long distance exploring capability. Of course, in guiding her to the bike of her ultimate happiness, you will be regarded as a great, wise and sensitive man who must be accorded all the respect and privilege a grateful woman can lavish upon her man. Which, in the year 2000, means she might buy you a beer. Chris Lawson
