plastic vs steel tanks

Very true but then again, sparks are more likely to fly from the rest of the bike (frame, pegs, bar ends, racks, etc.) before it ever gets to the tank throwing sparks. It's a close call but I'm sure a metal tank is more safer in more situations than a plastic one on a bike. Makes ya really think about it though. If a motorcycle crashes and the steel tank scrapes >along the street (cement) sparks may be created and if it puts a hole in >the >tank then WOOOSH, huge fire ball. The funny thing about DOT is they prefer >plastic fuel tanks in cars over steel.
