engine noise at an angle...

My A9 made some engine noises when the oil level was
at the middle of the inspection window. Adding enough
oil to raise the oil level to the top of the window
quieted everything down to normal levels. I top off
the oil level when it falls 1/8" below the top of the
window.
At my last oil & filter change, I measured how much
oil drained out with the oil level in the middle of
the window. Only 30 oz drained out. I added enough
oil to bring the level back to the middle of the window,
& hooked up a drain plug with a hole drilled thru the
middle & attached a clear hose to the plug, routing the
hose up the side of the engine. I ran my KLR fully
upright & saw that the oil level was at the rounded
bottom edge of the clutch side case. YUK! Adding 18
ounces of oil brought the oil level to the top of the
window with the KLR upright & stopped.
I hope this doesn't reopen the oil level debate.
I just keep my level at the top of the window.

kickstand side and the engine is idling, a really noticable knocking comes from the bottom end or around the starter motor - its hard to tell. It only really happens when the engine is warmed up.> > I've noticed that when I lean my A9 over onto the
