electrex stator problems

Hi Nick,
I'm a little behind you in the Electrex stator upgrade. I put their unit over
the weekend. I did this specifically for my upcomming trip to Alaska so that I
can run a heated vest and grips. Anyway, I too have found the installation was
not plug and play and required a bunch of fiddling and customizing, not to
mention that it was shipped with the wrong connector - that you had to assemble
yourself. To Electrex's credit, they did ship one the next day. I am still in
the process of finishing a major service on my bike prior to departure. I hope
to have it all done this weekend for a test ride/campout. One thing I did
differently than you is I upgraded the regulator with a heavier duty unit from
Electrex. The KLR electrical system converts excess energy in the regulator.
So I presume if the alternator is actually putting out more energy, it will
overload the stock regulator. I am counting on this unit to work better than
stock so I hope I didn't make a wrong choice. Dash Weeks also had some trouble
but that could be due to an old battery.
