easy chain slack check
One or two listers may find this useful:
For years, whenever I've adjusted my chain slack, I've gone and grabbed a
ratcheting tie down, hooked it between the rear frame (rack on klr) and the
swing arm, and check the chain tension, one click at a time on the ratchet.
when I reach the tightest spot (the sprocket centers and swing arm pivot are
all in line), and then check the chain while rolling the rear wheel
(however).
Very simple, very quick, and let's me feel 100% confident that it is not too
tight. It has worked on many bikes for me.
I hope that at least one of the listers that have asked about chain slack
finds this method useful in helping them feel confident that their chain is
adjusted ok.
