For that matter, does anyone know of a good source for that clear acrylic
plastic you adhere to your headlight to prevent rock damage? I have heard
it can be had at auto parts stores, but every one I've been into one and
asked, they looked at me like I was on drugs or something. I have the
headlights on my KLR, and the headlights, fog lights and driving lights on
my Rodeo I need to protect.

Check out your local glass shop and buy a sheet of clear
polycarbonate (aka Lexan). Any thickness of 1/16, 3/32 or 1/8" will
do. Acrylic will shatter and is not UV stable.

Thanks, but.....I meant that stuff that is a flexible film that you stick to
your headlight, like Baja Designs has for sale, but I didn't want to pay
that much for it.

OOPS, sorry. I read a long while back that you can buy that stuff
cheap at large autoparts stores for something like 1/2 to 1/3 the
cost of the pre-cut, cycle-specific stuff from cycle shops. Check
the archives.

The source of this info was non-other-than......Arne. He said he found a
sheet of this stuff, with one surface ready to stick on to your headlight at
Napa. You just needed to trace and cut, said he. Cost just a couple of
Loonies. Well like you Jeff I've made a pilgrimage of the local Napas and
4x4 stores. I also got the same "what are you on" stares. Is Arne pulling
our collective wongs? Bogdan

What would you use to glue it on? Bogdan

Jeff, you can get it at most auto parts stores. It sells by the inch and is
made by 3M . I got mine two years ago and it still looks like new. I bought
mine at NAPA. One of my customers paid JEEP $425 for the same stuff, as an
optional stone protection kit on his Grand Wagoneer, as " the stone
protection option". Talkin` about a rip-off !

If you want to use the ridgid type of Lexan try Home Depot they should have
it. Then just fasten it with Velcro dots. Dave

Most people use adhesive Velcro on the Lexan and fairing. I've also
seen double-sided foam-core tape.

How about " Do the bugs hit you really that hard that you have to wear
a leather jacket?" asked the local cop in a little town when issuing me
a ticket for 72 in a 55.
" I didn't know you could load up and travel on a dirt bike like that"
They say
"It's not a dirt bike. " I say
"Well it looks like a dirt bike." And it goes on and on.
