You can carefully remove the bolt, just pretend you're playing the Milton-Bradley game "Operation". I think most standard KLRs have a circlip holding the lever arm to the tensioner gear, the Tengai has no circlip and there is a danger of the arm falling off requiring removal of the flywheel to reinstall it.. I'm not sure about the Eldon recommendation as I've never read about what he said, but I think this is the washer in question. You'll notice that it is behind the flywheel, but there's room enough to remove the bolt and install the washer; put the washer on the bolt first, then install the bolt. Mark B2 A2
