I'll reiterate my gratitude to the publishers, editors, listmeisters and organizers, but sometimes a man must take a stand. I'll get right to the point. I'm sure others noticed, but didn't mention  for fear of making waves, the fine print on the paper we signed in Moab. $10 of every rally fee is going to the Al Gore campaign. I know support for him among participants was near unanimous; I personally feel impelled to vote for the man who invented Gore-Tex. Still, did Gino & Fred have to make the event at the Elk's Lodge a mini version of the Buddhist temple thing? Is our tax-exempt status threatened? Was it fair to involve the Canuck, Mexican and Chinese riders in U.S. politics? ...........Also I question Gino's decision to invite Sierra Club activists as observers. As far as I know none of them was a motorcycle rider. When I first heard that they were going to watch the White Rim ride with binoculars from the Island in the Sky I wasn't concerned, but a subsequent conversation changed my mind. A Sierra Club guy confronted me in front of Fred's shop. He said that he observed me ascend the Hog's Back and shortly after proceed to take a leak. He informed me he then took out his rifle with scope mounted with the intention of shooting off my unit. The rifle misfired thus saving my member. I know the jarring my bladder and kidneys took is a lame excuse. I also realize the desirability of hauling out your urine. I must admit I admire the man's passion, but don't you think his intended action was extreme? Did anyone else have a similar experience with these people? I'm not trying to cause trouble.     WHEN PIGS FLY, BOGDAN!!!  When Pigs Fly...   Keeping us honest is a thankless job.  And it isn't even Happy Hour yet.       Maybe there's a rational explanation for these events that I'm blind to.     Bogdan Visit the KLR650 archives at http://www.listquest.com/lq/search.html?ln=klr650 Support Dual Sport News... dsneditor@... ". . .fine print on the paper we signed in Moab. $10 of every rally fee is going to the Al Gore campaign. I know support for him among participants was near unanimous. . ." Is this really true?!! Or is this a cruel joke? The honor system virus thing was sorta funny! This isn't even remotely funny! What's next a portion of the fee going to the United Nations or Sara Brady's group? I'm a stanch Alan Keys supporter for President. If $10 of each rally fee had gone to his campaign this would have been wrong as well. At least in my eyes. I was considering the possibility of going next year, however if something like this would show up at the last minute I'd pack my gear and go home on just principle alone. Principle has always cost me Big in life. At least until I started working for a non-profit organization 4 years ago where my views are not considered odd and politically incorrect. What a relief! Glen Meyer, perplexed in Post Falls, ID But happy with his A-13 Say it ain't so KLR 650 List !!! ARRRRGH!!!

Slide, it's not true. $20.00 dollars of every rally fee went to the NRA and to elect our next president, Mr. Heston. Gino, we can only dream.

Sorry Mike,   Gino has blown a gasket trying to come up with your answer.  He will be out of the hospital and back to normal(?) soon.  If you believe half of what Bogdan tells you then you get what you pay for.   Gino is taking money out of his own pocket to make these Get-Togethers work.  If there were any moneys left from the Utah Get-Together to give away, the last place Gino's contributions go to would be a political campaign.   Fred

why is it that political extremists never get the joke? just look at the "from" line. if it came from bogdan, it's unlikely to be completely serious. he was just poking fun. mw some reactionary carefully typed:

I found a formula used to calculate shim thickness on VW engines to modify compression ratios. I modified the formula to eliminate the shim portion of the calculation. Bear with me this is complex: WHERE: B= Bore diameter in mm, S=Stroke in mm, C=Chamber Volume in cc, and D=Deck Height in Inches, the formula for compression ratio is: ((B^2*S*0.0031416)+((C+(B^2*0.01996*D))*4))/((C+(B^2*0.01996*D))*4) Wheew!! Can you follow those parentheses? Try creating an Excel worksheet with this formula, it seems to work. Rob
