OK. Settle down boyz. Didn't we learn _anything_ from the w*bring incident? The internet is a vast place, albeit virtual. And it quickly routes around censorship like an ant trail routes around ... um... can anyone bring that one home for me? I say he's more than welcome to start his own KLR list. And durned if I won't check in on it occasionally. But, I have to say to the guy who started it, you've chosen a very specialized row to hoe. I would recommend checking out Vik's list -- it's still pretty low traffic, but it's kinda remarkable to see who will check in for information and who will offer it when asked. And we even discuss KLR's occasionally. ;^) As for advertising your list on this KLR list, I would think that would be like anything else that gets advertised here. Quietly, in your sig. You've had your one post of information that it exists. Those that want to will filter over there. Kurt and Arne, you've got a wonderful thing here, it's resilient. But, anything that exists in cyberspace is easily killed by a heavy fist. Like the, um, ant trail in the above analogy, that I still can't finish, for the life of me... Never say there's only one good place to get information. And never fear your friends will leave you for some sweet young virgin. Well, maybe fear that, but the friends will come back. Excellent info, I agree with everything, but if you hit it right, 299 can be a fun road, too. In the Trinity Alps, look for a small sign leaving Forks of the Salmon on the road to Cecilville. It says, "Trinity Freeway." Heh heh. Just outside the south entrance to Lassen is a fun little road - Hiway 172. It's like Mr Toad's Wild Ride. South of Eureka is the Lost Coast. Take Mattole Rd and be sure to stop in Ferndale to see the museum of incredible human-powered vehicles used in the annual land/water race from Arcata to Eureka. Mattole Rd joins 101 again at the Humboldt Redwoods - beautiful! A bit further south, there are several nice roads between the coast & 101. Through Boonville or the Skaggs Springs/Stewarts Point road. South of Monterey is Carmel Valley Rd - a wonderful road that takes you back to 101. (There will be racing at Laguna Seca, just outside Monterey, July 7-9.) Oops. I think you got me started. California has so many wonderful roads, it's hard to stop. I'd forget going up 395. Go up the west side of the Sierras from Caliente-Bodfish below Kernville, to Springville, Yokohl Valley, Badger, Dunlap, Auberry, etc. Just northwest of Yosemite, check out Evergreen, Mather & Cherry Rds. Cross the Sierras on 4 or 49. (49 is a fun ride through Downieville, but it can get crowded, too.) Ah, there are so many options, and they're all fun. You're going to have a great time. I'm envious.
