Hmm, this sounds a lot like the mcadv_touring list - are you aware of this list? It seems a pity to duplicate something which is out there already. There are often very KLR specific threads on this list which relate to the type of touring focus you are talking about, and no-one seems to mind. There is also a wealth of information from riders of other marques, many of whom are experienced world tourers. As for KLR specific stuff, most mechanical questions apply as much to adventure tourers as they do to local trail roosters. Ok, so 'What oil should I use?' comes up more than we'd like, but that's part of the life of a bike list, IMO. Use filters to get rid of the NKLR stuff, if you need to. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I don't think your list would give you anything more than mcadv_touring would, and could lead to some annoying cross-posting and multiple replies... Although you may be right, to create a more focused KLR Adventure list, its well worth the risk. If it turns out to be less than useful to those who use it, I'm sure we'll agree to shut it down. But until then, its the only list that focuses on the KLR as a machine and adventure motorcycling as a lifestyle. I think it is kind of cheesy to promote a new list using the old...I trust you asked Arne if it was alright before posting right? Kurt

You're entitled to you opinion for sure, and I'm entitled to disagree. Lists exist to promote issues of shared interest, in this case related to the KLR. The KLR Adventure group exists to complement Arne's KLR list, albeit with a more specific focus. The fact that I'm comfortable posting my message here is a complement to Arne himself and the great job he does as a benevolent moderator. I think both lists can coexist quite happily, as complementary rather than competitive. Like I said should the KLR Adventure list not prove to be useful to its members, I m sure we ll agree to end it. However if it can offer people something a little more focused, all the better. Thank you Mr. Larsen, but before anyone starts listening to mushy Carpenters songs and getting all teary-eyed, I have explain my munificence. A few months ago, I dropped my bike ( OK I went flying over the bars ) and busted a handguard. I asked the list if anyone had any spares laying around, sure enough I got 3 offers. One guy said 5 bucks, one guy said whatever you think it is fair, and one guy said "gratis.. you pay the shipping". I thought that was a cool thing to do, and if that kind of stuff becomes a trend on the list, well then right on! CA Stu
