(nklr)virus joke-last word!

To Jeff and fellow listers,
Just a couple of final thoughts on this matter and I swear I'll never
mention it on the list again!
I did read the joke,I didn't know it wasn't serious. Am I ignorant, niave or ill-informed? On this topic I would say,'guilty as charged'. Being new to the Internet and computing in general I appreciate the efforts of Arne and listers like him who are patient and tolerant enough to put up with my short comings and (as you put it ) give me some schooling.>OK, here I step into it. If you had read the joke, you would realize how >ridiculous it was.
Viruses aren't the end>As for viruses, like the Happy99, (Has anyone actually seen that one work?
A pain in the ass that I think we could all do without. I've been fortunate so far but some of my friends and co-workers haven't, they have lost info and even had to replace hardware as a result of virus problems. Making reference to this sort of thing is funny??Not to me. I think Arne called it right and apparently there are listers out there who agree.( I liked the analogy about guns and airports, my wife is a security supvisor at our local airport, jokes about guns or bombs are a sure way to get hauled to the RCMP detachment!!). BTW, Jeff I read your post and I will take your advice,I am in the process of backing up my files and your point about virus protection software makes perfect sense. See, I have learned something,I'd just rather do without the virus jokes! Sorry for rambling on, Steve Pye A7>of the world like the media would like to make them out to be. They are >just a royal pain in the ass.
